A noticeable difference in the amount of inflammation and fat proteins led scientists to conclude that relaxing in a hot tub provides some of the same benefits as aerobic exercise such as:
- Lower blood pressure
- Reduced heart rate
- Increased circulation
- Warmer body temperature
- Increased metabolism
- Higher concentration of endorphins (the feel-good hormone)
- Better heart health
In addition to these awesome findings, researchers also noticed improvements in factors related to insulin resistance, which could mean that spas sessions may one day be used to reduce the chances of Type 2 diabetes in patients with an increased risk.
But wait! That’s not all… Relaxing in a hot tub reduces the amount of cortisol, also known as the stress hormone. Studies have shown that a higher concentration of cortisol can lead to cravings for fattier, saltier foods while reducing muscle mass resulting in a slower metabolism.
