Moving On Up? Take Your Hot Tub with You!

Moving On Up? Take Your Hot Tub with You!

By now your hot tub has become part of the family, and there’s no reason you should have to leave it behind when it’s time to move to a new home. You’ve basically got two options: Move it yourself, or hire a professional. But don’t worry, we’ll walk you through the process for each so you can make the best decision for you, your family, and your hot tub.

Do it Yourself

If you’re not afraid of a little work and want to save a few dollars, you can try to pack up and move your hot tub yourself. But make sure not to do it all by your lonesome, buy your friends some pizza and have them come over to help, safety first always.

Start by packing up all the accessories, this includes things like the heater, electrical units, and plumbing. Then, you’re ready to drain your spa. Next you’ll need to grab those friends to help you tilt the hot tub on its side and place a 2-by-4 underneath. Now tilt it to the other side, placing a second 2-by-4 underneath so that the hot tub is resting on both pieces and off the ground. Finally, use a dolly to help roll your hot tub to the moving truck and use it again to get it to its new home.

Hire a Professional

This option will cost more, but is definitely safer and easier on your back. Most moving companies will cover this job if you give them a heads up first. This way they can bring the necessary equipment and backup as this is in no way a one person job.

Our experts at SpaExpo are excited to assist you in anyway we can, whether it’s advice on moving your spa, or tips for packing up those special accessories. Contact us today or stop by our showroom and see us with any questions!
