Prepping your Hot Tub for the Cold Season

Fall is such a beautiful time of year. But all things must come to an end, and with the end of fall comes winter. As you’re enjoying the nice weather of fall, you should also start prepping your hot tub for the cold season. You’ve been on pins and needles all year waiting for this time to roll around again. And now it’s almost here! Set your spa up for success with these tips.

Drain and Fill Your Hot Tub

If you’re ready for your hot tub to take center stage all through the winter, it’s time to give it a good ol’ drain and fill. You have to do this every few months, and odds are, your hot tub will be due for a drain and fill right smack dab in the middle of winter. That’s just the way it works.

But the good news is, you don’t have to drain and fill it in the middle of winter. Your hot tub doesn’t care if you do it early; you just can’t do it late. So, go ahead. Prep your hot tub for the cold season, and drain and fill it while it’s still nice out. Better yet, have one of our fantastic technicians do it for you. We will have your hot tub perfectly cleaned, balanced, and ready to use for prime hot tub season!

Keep That Cover On

In the cold, it takes even longer for your hot tub to heat up and stay heated. You want to keep your hot tub cover on all year long, but it is especially important in winter. If you don’t keep your hot tub covered, the outside air is going to cool the water. Your spa water will get cooler, your heater will kick on often, and your energy bill will go up. Just keep the cover on when you’re not using it. It may not be convenient in the moment, but it will save you some money later on.

Stick to a Schedule

During the warmer months of hot tub season, you probably had a maintenance schedule for your hot tub that you stuck to.

In the cold season, you still need to stick to a routine maintenance schedule. But this schedule may be a little different. When prepping your hot tub for the cold season, also prep your schedule. Plan when you’re going to test your water and clean the filters. You should also plan time to check your water levels. You can also utilize our free water testing anytime you need it. We’ll give you expert advice for all your water care needs and be happy to point you in the right direction for the chemical solutions your hot tub needs. But by the looks of winter this year, you are going to want to be in your hot tub all the time!

When you’re prepping to use your hot tub all season long, the amazing customer care team at SpaExpo in Austin is here to help.
